To create a Test Case, you need the Create Test Cases permission. There are 2 ways to create a Test Case:
A. Create a Test Case from Requirement (refer to Create Associated Test Cases from Requirement)
B. Create a Test Case in Test Design
- Select a module on the Test Design tree, click New Test Case button on the System tool bar. Alternatively, right-click an existing module and select New > New Test Case.
- Rename the test case in test case’s main workspace
- In the Properties section, enter Test Case's details, such as Status, Type, Description, Precondition, Assignee, and custom fields, if any
- In the Test Step section, enter Step Description and Expect Result into Test Steps grid.
Hold Shift + Enter to enter multiple lines in a step.
- Press Tab or click the Insert below icon
to add new Test Step.
- Re-order Test Steps using Move Up or Move Down arrows
or Drag & Drop Test Step.
- Select Test Steps to copy and paste into the same Test Case
- Click the Delete icon
to delete Test Steps.
- Click the Clip icon
in each Test Step to add attachments to individual step.
Click the Clip icon of individual Test Step to view or delete existing attachments of Test Steps.

- In the Resource section, add Linked Requirements and Attachments.
- Click the Save button to finish creating a Test Case.

C. Copy and Paste Test Steps
qTest allows to copy and paste Test Steps within the same Test Cases or to different Test Cases
- Copy/Paste Test Steps within the same Test Case
- Select consecutive or non-consecutive Test Steps in a Test Case to copy
- Right-click on selected Test Steps and click Copy
- Right-click on destination row in the same Test Case and select Paste. Copied Test Steps will be inserted below selected row in order of selected Test Steps.
- Copy/Paste Test Steps to different Test Cases
- Select consecutive or non-consecutive Test Steps in a Test Case to copy
- Right-click on selected Test Steps and click Copy
- Right-click on destination row of different Test Cases in the same or different project and select Paste. Copied Test Steps will be inserted below selected row in order of selected Test Steps.


HINT:
- A Called Test Case CANNOT be copied onto itself.
- Called Test Cases can be copied to the same or different Test Cases in a project, NOT across projects. There will be a warning that Called Test Cases cannot be copied and pasted across Projects.
